Henry Mok and Xin Mao attended culinary school together in 2008. After training in Vancouver, each went on to work in high profile Vancouver restaurants. However, throughout their time spent apprenticing, the idea of owning their own restaurant never left their minds. In 2013, they combined parts of their last names—Mok and Mao—and their respective specialties to open MoMa Bistro.
MoMa Bistro is a blend of each chef’s influences and style. “I specialize in French cuisine,” says Henry, “and Xin’s specialty is Italian food. MoMa Bistro is a combination of those styles, which makes it really unique for the Richmond area.”
