Fraser House Society is a community-based not-for-profit society, founded on October 13, 1967. It is governed by a voluntary Board of Directors who represent a cross-section of the local community. The Society is registered as a Canadian charitable organization under the Income Tax Act of Canada.Fraser House Society seeks to promote a healthier community by reducing the misuse of alcohol and other drugs by developing and implementing effective prevention and treatment strategies and programs using the harm reduction philosophy for individuals and their families in the Mission area. Fraser House Society holds the view that substance misuse is a serious community, family, and individual problem that affects the lives of every member of the community. Since substance misuse severely impacts the lives of family members and others, all members of the family and community deserve assistance in dealing with the consequences. The goal of the Fraser House Society is to help provide a holistic community solution to the problems associated with substance misuse rather than just provide band-aids to cover visible sores. The Society is therefore involved in treatment, prevention, and community awareness initiatives. Fraser House Society operates within the District of Mission and Fraser Valley Regional District; from Hayward Lake in the west, Stave Lake in the north, to Lake Errock in the east, with the Fraser River forming the southern boundary. We serve the residents of the area, including the communities of Silverdale, Stave Lake, Mission, McConnell Creek, Dewdney, Deroche, and Lake Errock.more...See more text
