When Debbie Wray first opened Taste of Time Furniture & Home Decor Consignment, she and her business partner set out to establish a unique place that was different from the usual secondhand shop. “I think we all know the stereotypes of consignment and secondhand stores,” Debbie says. “We think of rows and rows of items; we think of the smell when we walk in the door. When you walk in the door here, it’s unexpected. We lay the merchandise out like you would in a home. I don’t use shelves, I use the items themselves. I don’t want a store atmosphere; I want to create a warm atmosphere that people feel comfortable shopping in.”
Over the years, Debbie’s keen eye for funky furniture and decor pieces has helped her curate an eye-catching selection of home furnishings at her Maple Ridge consignment shop. “We started out as a secondhand furniture and home decor store, but we’ve turned into more of a vintage and antique store these days,” she notes. “People are bringing us the most amazing things. We have come to collect a lot of Royal Albert china and Royal Dalton china figurines. Our shabby chic furniture is authentically shabby chic!"
