David Zimmerman knows good food. The co-owner of Lot 102 has been working in the restaurant business since he was 14 and moved up the ladder to become the regional chef for a franchise restaurant. David and business partner Ryan Farwell ventured out on their own in May of 2015, opening a restaurant serving burgers, bourbon-based cocktails and beer at the corner of Memorial Drive and 10th Street Northwest.
Located on the south side of Kensington Village, the restaurant overlooks the Bow River, the weathered steel sculptures of Poppy Plaza and the Louise Bridge. A long, narrow room built along a central bar, the restaurant’s front-to-back windows provide a view for patrons seated in the front lounge area as well as those in the rear dining room.
Pedal your hungry cycling self right up to Lot 102 for a gourmet burger. The signature drink category here is bourbon-based cocktails, but more suitable for fuelling a sunny, riverside bike ride, its milkshake menu features selections such as a maple-bacon shake with real bacon bits. On the east side of the Memorial Drive and 10th Street Northwest intersection, enjoy a view of the Bow River and the sculptures of Poppy Plaza from inside the sunny bar and grill or from its small outdoor patio when weather permits.
Burgers, beer and bourbon are the triple-threat theme and take the monster share of the menu glory at Lot 102. At the intersection of Memorial Drive and 10th Street Northwest, the bar and restaurant serves a lot of burger options including a double-patty Angus burger, a bison burger topped with fried egg and a Reuben-themed beef burger. Choose your bun, and add optional toppings as you see fit. Also one the menu: tacos, vegetarian salads and sandwiches as well as fish and chips and fried chicken.
