I'm not sure why it took so long to try this place out, after all, it's only 5 minutes away from my house. I'm glad I did, as it was a nice surprise. Featuring quite a big menu, with some good specials, there is something for everyone here. As with most Chinese restaurants, the portions are very big, but I found the prices to be lower than normal. The quality of the food and the speed at which it was cooked was impressive. With the exception of the egg rolls (which are obviously precooked and heated up), everything tasted hot and fresh. Very friendly guys work there and delivery is free over a certain amount. They do need to add a tip column to their receipt when they deliver though! All in all, a great little Chinese take-out place that I will definitely use again. The 'Atmosphere' is pretty irrelevant since it's really only take-out. There are 3 or 4 tiny tables in there, but I can't imagine anyone using them. Read more

I came to this restaurant for my father's birthday and the food was incredible. It is an authetic portuguese restaurant on James street in Hamilton. For an appetizer we had the Bruchetta, which is baked pizza style bread topped with tomato, onion and garlic. Yumm! For the dish I ate the Filete com arroz, which is fish filete with seafood rice. The dish cost $17 but was really cheap considering the amount of food that was provided. I will definetely return to this restaurant and recommend anyone to try this place. They have a large menu with many options. If you havent tried portuguese food or just love the food, you wont be disappointed at the Wild Orchid. Read more

The food and portions here are really worth checking out. A very relaxed casual dinning experience. I've been going here for over 6 years now. The staff is friendly though the older family members of the restaurant do have some trouble with English. The foods always hot and made to spec and if you do have questions and concerns they will do their best to make the meal right for you. My favorite meal choice is the General Tao chicken they serve its a spicy dish that got crispy chicken done up in a hot yet sweet sauce mixed with sesame seeds. The inside might not look like much but if you appreciate good food and decent prices I recommended it. The only downside is there really isn't parking so you must look to park on Gage ave. Food was served within minutes - big portions considering the low prices. We visited the restaurant in the evening when it was less busy; the lady serving was nice, asking a few times if we had everything we needed. Low prices, good food... definitely worth another visit. We ordered 3 takeout meals for a get together at home - $13.50 each The food was ready in 30 minutes and was waiting for me when I arrived to pick it up. I got a 10 percent discount for picking it up rather than having it delivered, so the total came to about $41. The 3 meals were well-packaged and still hot when I got them home. Everything tasted great - just the way chinese food is supposed to taste. In particular I noticed that the vegetables were crisp - they had not heated up some old ingredients. And there was more than enough for everyone My only regret is that downtown Hamilton is in such bad shape that it affects business. There were only 2 parties of about 7 people in the restauraunt when I arrived to pick up the food. The place deserves better than that. Read more
