This is a college bar and like most people if you want to have a few beers and great wings this is the place to go. We ordered their TEAM COMBO special which included 20 wings, 4 potato jackets, 6 mozzarella sticks and fries plus a pitcher of draft beer. The service was excellent. Servers were polite. We didn’t have reservations, and the pub was crowded but they managed to give us a table. That’s how well they treat the customers. Food was good and the community band was very good . We danced away the night through early morning . Read more

Food is typical pub fare; generous helping for a good price. they have good drink special especially on thurs and sundays. the atmosphere really depends on the night: I've been there during the week when it was really mellow, and then the weekends get crazy busy! The first thing i notice when i walked into POGUE MAHONES was that all the waitresses wore plaid thigh-length skirts - i am glad i arrived here! It is a kind of dark place with dark wood all over. Also it is a very busy and noisy place, i can barely hear myself talking. The waiters/waitresses were very attentive as they came back every once in awhile to check on our needs a few times. All of our food arrive fresh and hot. My coffee was fresh and scalding hot, it came in a generous sized mug too. My seafood chowder was hot and it was very creamy, not bad! My chicken wings were satisfactory, no complaints here! Okay now my Grand Spuds with irish-poutine-style sucked!!! The fries had melted cheese and gravy on top, but the freshcut homemade fries, tasted totally off. My friend who had fries in his dish also complained about the fries tasting YUCK! My other friends were very satisfied with their dishes (fish n chips, liver n onions w mashed potato, chicken pot pie w mashed potatoes, jambalaya). Good service, satisfactory food, unpleasant atmosphere (too noisy)... would i visit again? i dont think i will. Overall satisfactory! Read more
