Tonight my experience here was NOT what it should have been, past visits have been good. I ordered the Butternut Squash Ravioli and what came out was ravioli filled with ricotta instead. I am Lactose intolerant and explained this to the waiter who promptly apologized and went back to the kitchen only to tell me they ran out of the squash and that the kitchen should have made him aware of this instead of knowingly replacing with ricotta and trying to serve it to me. FINE, I was asked what I would like instead so I ordered Penne a la vodka which was promptly made and served. It was no more than red cream - not a hint of Vodka, barely any tomato sauce . The waiter acknowledged this, as did the owner whom I explained, again, that I was lactose intolerant - they both understood, left my plate in front of me and quickly left, off to the kitchen? For a second I thought they were firing up a proper Penne a la Vodka, I waited, and waited... I mean what would you do as the owner?? WRONG, they did not, and as I suspected they left the plate of red creme and penne in front of me in hopes that I would just give in and eat it. Everyone else was finished eating and I was simply IGNORED. I did not complain, I did not make a fuss.....Maybe I should have.
Great evening in a pretty little restaurant. We had reservations for 4 and then noticed the review by foodiewino. So with a little trepidation we set out for our Christmas dinner. The atmosphere was intimate and very comfortable. The incredibly clean washrooms were a delight to see and we were made to feel very comfortable by the friendly staff. NOT passe at all! Then the food.. great Italian food. We all agreed that it was the best restaurant experience in years.
I'm very surprised at the great reviews that this restaurant has recently received. I found everything to be so passe here. The food was boring, the service was more so and the atmosphere was very lacking in ambience and character. Our experience wasn't bad, just simply adequate, when i spend money on dinner, i want more than adequate!
For sure we will go back. We had a great time with awesome food. The salad appetizers were a wonderful surprise. It had great favour with a real combination and variety of greens. The caesar salads were light and refreshing. In regards to the main course we could have licked the plates they were so good. I think my husband did use his finger to get all the chocolate of the lava cake which came with a variety of exotic fruit.
Truly a very nice experience. The food was very very good. small and quaint. One of those places you can't wait to take someone special. We were there for a business get together. Bravo! Did foodiewino have too much wine to appreciate this great little place? 6 of us went again for our Christmas office dinner and could not help but love it all over again.
Nice little restaurant, bit out of sight, was difficult to find. The restaurant was nice, not busy at all, clean. The service was good, and attentive. The only complaint would have been the tomatoe sauce, I found it much too acidic for my taste.
The servers provided great advice regarding the dinner, the food came in a timely manner, hot and great balance of flavours, our entire group was very happy with the experience. For sure we will all go again and strongly recommend others to do so too.
Love this restaurant. The food and service were great. Very clean and nice decor, bathrooms were spotless and that is usually my last and important checkmark on restaurants.
I recently went to this restaurant and it was quite good! I am constantly attending business lunches and dinners and have been to almost every restaurant in the Woodbridge area. This restaurant is definitely in the top 5 for me. The pasta alla carbonara was not too heavy, like others seem to think, but exactly the way it should be! The staff is very friendly. I would have loved to see more seasonal changes to the menu, but I still highly recommend this restaurant for both lunch and dinner.
My wife and I went to Spigolo with another couple to celebrate my birthday. Our meal was perfect, servers were knowledgable and very friendly. It seems there is a lot of negativity on this board about this quaint little restaurant, but take my word and go check it out for yourself. Definately going to be back soon!
My husband and I have been going out for years. We are always looking for something new and boy did we find the jackpot. The service was splendid and the atmosphere was romantic. And food....wow. The flavors were wonder and complemented each other perfectly. I'm very picky about my polenta and I don't think even my grandmother couold have made it any better! The casareccia was rich and spicy. I asked for extra bread just so I could get all the sauce. Of course we weren't done there being the eaters we are. So we decided to share a chocolate cake, which turned out to be rather interesting to me. I just expected a nice chocolate cake with a sauce or something. However when it got to the table and we dug in we boy were we surprise to find a melting middle. It was so neat. Anyway I have read all the other reviews and I must say I'm rather surprised. My only thought would be that mistakes happen because what wew experienced was more then what we expect. It was perfection in our eyes. We both look forward to returning ever chance we get, so I suggest you give it a try! We give our thanx to the staff for making oue experience so enjoyable.
I don't know if the last few reviewers went to the same restaurant as we did but the food was great, the service friendly and accurate, the atmosphere quiet and romantic. For us it was a 10.
I agree with the two reviewers that say the earlier reviews of perfect tens are over the top and they read more like promotional ads than reviews. You just expect a perfect experience, ours ended up to be just okay. And one reviewer ordered grilled calamari, got fried. One reviewer ordered alfredo and got tomato. What's with that?
Had dinner with my fiance there recently. I ordered the Veal Chop, which was very good, and cooked to my liking. My Fiance ordered the Penne, which was good, but she had asked for it to be served with a Alfredo sauce, instead it was served with a tomatoe sauce. She still enjoyed it, so the only knock was the misorder. Atmosphere is nice and quiet.
I agree with another reviewer that most reviews here are over the top and suspicious. When we dined here the place was empty but for two tables. We order grilled calamari and got fried. Both pasta dishes were too heavily sauced for my Italian palate. The sauces were heavy on the cream and/or fat and it made it hard to finish the plate. Complimentary artisan bread with olive pesto and olives was a nice touch.
Well I must say I was surprised. This restaurant is tucked away, the decor is a simple yet elegant. Very well done. The service was top notch. Now for the food. Appetizers were served quickly and very fresh. The Black Cod is simply amazing. Best I've had. The Pork and Veal Chop were cooked to perfection. Tender and moist. As reported, the chef actually does come out and plays the piano on occasion. Overall, had a wonderful experience and will definately return and I highly recommend it.
My evening at Spigolo was absolutely splendid. The service was wonderful. Our server was friendly and very knowledgeable. The food was amazing, it both looked and tasted better then I ever imagined. The experience was one that we all enjoyed and look forward to having again!
The atmosphere and ambience in this little restaurant is absolutely stunning! Every detail is beautiful and well thought out, from the incredible decore to the nice menus. The wait staff is friendly and welcoming and the service was excellent. The menu had some old standards (fried calamari, rack of lamb) which were done to perfection, along with some new fresh ideas (gnocchi in vodka sauce, risotto piccolo, and their signature dish, Casareccia Spigolo) all of which were excellent. I didn't believe it when I first heard it, but the chef even comes out and plays the piano if there is a special occasion! Overall a great experience and I can't wait to go back!
We came here to celebrate the completion of a project. Quaint, little wonderful place. Great ambience, fabulous food and excellent service. Loved the way the food was presented. Each morsel tasted as good as it looked. I shall definitely return !!
All around great experience. Friendly staff and great food, highly recommend.
