    Favourite Trinidadian Roti House

Some years ago I compiled a list from the Internet of well over a hundred Caribbean (West Indian) restaurants and take-outs, and used to keep it in my car. One day, my wife and I were on the west side of the City, and fancied some roti. I looked down my list, and the first one I found in the general area was Caribbean Roti Palace: about 250 metres south of Honest Ed's on the west side of Bathurst Street. Most roti shops tend to be pretty mediocre, and my past favourites had retired, so I wanted to try a new place. We made our way there and ordered both chicken and vegetarian rotis, and took them home. Were we pleased we'd tried this particular take-out - you can eat in, but it's not a great place to dine. The chicken rotis were at least equal to any we'd had previously, but the vegetarian ones were way superior to anything we'd had before. We've had rotis from across the GTA, and are aware of some of the general favourite Roti Shops that everyone recommends as the best, but these people make the best veggie ones we've ever tried. They make their own roti shells (Dhal Puri's) as they are needed, on the premises. The vegetarian roti's can include potato, chick peas, spinach, pumpkin and egg plant. And - as some young people say - they're to die for! Try them. If you like your rotis, you'll not be disappointed. Note that we now live in Scarborough, but go all the way to CRP whenever we need our Roti fix! Also, the family order from there when we get together.
