boring diner atmosphere, tasteless food that isn't expensive but still leaves you thinking "I just paid $12 for THAT.." Their brunch is good, but don't waste your money on having dinner there - it's horrible. ..and don't get the soup, it's in a bowl that holds about a mouthful

The service was slow and the portions were small. I was disappointed in the blandness of the salmon. If I had been paying for it, I would have been annoyed. If I go back, it will be someone else's idea and their money.

With a calming east coast atmosphere, The Beacher Café is a great spot for fancy family gatherings. The floor-to-ceiling windows offer a fantastic view of Toronto’s Beaches neighbourhood while the walls showcase new local artists each month. You can order New York sirloin and sip wine while the kids slurp spaghetti bolognese and soft drinks. The menu has a little something for everyone.

Great brunch joints in the Beaches

Great brunch joints in the Beaches

You can find breakfast at Beacher Cafe all day, every day. Make your choice from a list of irresistible dishes, like Eggs Benjamyn (poached eggs on top of smoked salmon), Eggs Florentine (poached eggs on spinach), and Belgian waffles. You can also find smoked salmon scrambled eggs, quiche, fruit parfait and whatever else you want for breakfast – Beacher has it all. They do not serve a full menu during breakfast and brunch hours, so ask your server for details.

Sunny patios in the Beaches for morning, noon and night

Sunny patios in the Beaches for morning, noon and night

One of the local institutions, this place has an old world charm mixed with a hipster vibe which is part and parcel of The Beaches dining. With the cafe’s location in a leafy old neighbourhood, the patio is the place to be when it warms up, and on live music nights you can stay put as the melodies waft through the open doors. Enjoy solid cafe food at good prices and bring your own wine for a reasonable corkage fee.
