This was the first restaurant I went to in Orillia and it remains one of my favourites. There is a large menu of mostly pub-styled food, lots of veggie options, and a great atmosphere to visit with friends. When it gets busy it can be slow to get your food but it is worth the wait if you are not in a hurry.
You must try the dry cajun chicken wings, I love them. The owners have made sure there is a huge selection of choices on the menu. The cookie skillet idea is amazing but i had to share it .
A friend of mine recommended Brewery Bay so we thought we would check it out. I have been there twice now - the first time was great but our second visit did a complete 180.
On our first visit our server was great. She was very friendly, she got us refills, the food came out fast and it was really good. My only complaint was that the fries could have been cooked a little more. The atmosphere was great and we had a great experience.
The second visit was really different then the first. We were seated at this table that rocked and the chair was broken too. It didn't seem to match the rest of the restaurant but it was the only spot available. We were seated promptly by someone at the door but then our server left us sitting at our table for quite a while. When he finally came, he was quite awkward and just asked us what we wanted to drink. I think he was new because he was a really bad. Our food took awhile and when it came it was cold. It tasted old.
Because our first visit was so good we might try Brewery Bay again. We hope that our second experience was one of those bad nights.
we have had many different experiences at brewery bay... it seems to me that they have good nights and bad nights. some staff are more than eager to help, and others are a bit lacking. their fries are potatoey and salty-- could be improved upon! had to wait a while for refills, which doesnt impress me.. the atmosphere can be clean but bathrooms are pretty dirty.. if you are going with a group of people i recommed getting the 'bite me bundle' .. it comes with a variety of good foods.
I have a friend that is a vegetarian and it is tough to find a place where we can both eat. Brewery Bay fills that need very well. They have a wide selection of choices for both of us.
I usually suggest this place as a catch all when we can't decide what to do or where to go.
Forgot to mention that it has a wheelchair bathroom.
I have never seen it but a friend built it and told me about it.
Highly over priced, sub par food. Service was slow and two of the meals we ordered were incorrect. Cocktails were more like mocktails. Bathrooms were extremely dirty. We brought all of these issues to the manager’s attention and he was prompt in providing a 25% discount on the bill, however we will not be eating at this restaurant again.

Very good food and service. The volume of music was somewhat irritating to us, but might not bother other people. Handy location by the Mariposa Market with good parking area in back.
We were famished when we walked in and had a great time. The wait time for our food was less than 15 minutes. The garlic bread was a uniquely delicious blend and my salad had the best grilled bbq chicken that was so moist.
My partner loved his sandwich. Only thing we'd change is adding more fries to his plate, because with the extra charge for sweet potatoes, it seemed unfair that he got such a piddly amount (although they were barely salted!).
The music wasn't too loud, although we left before the band began. I guess enough complaints can make a difference.
It was the perfect end to our perfect day. We can't wait to go back.
Based on reviews from this page and my own desire to go, I tried this restaurant. It was slow service, poor food and unsympathetic.
The atmosphere is pub style, I liked that! The music is just slightly too loud. Very slightly! Upon entering, we waited to be seated and no one came to greet us... Okay we'll seat ourselves.
Promptly, too promptly a waitress comes flying down with menu's and waiting to take drink orders. We asked for time. Ordered 2 drinks, their cider and a strawberry daiquiri. AMAZING!
Then we pondered over their menu... It was a great effort on trying to be trendy, but far too much effort to be outstanding as all meals seamed to have goat cheese or something weird.
Settled on the Buffalo Chick Strips and a turkey burger. The food came in a timely fashion. Then it was all down hill.
I got 4 Small Chicken Strips for my order that resembled boneless wings. I didn't think that I ordered an appetizer. My Wife's burger was dry and uneventful and she found her fries way too salty. I like salt and found their fries amazing.
No waitress stopped by to check on our food for the entire meal. Some mayo or salsa would have rectified the burger and some unsalted fries would have been perfect. My wife ate nothing. We were never offered refills on our drinks either. Which was the entire reason I went there was drinks and some food.
For our inconvenience, we were offered a 25% discount a quick apology. My wife and I will never eat there again.
We ordered a variety of burgers and one club-sandwich. The burgers were all outstanding, including the beef burgers, the turkey burger, and the "Gourmet Vegetarian" burger. Incidentally, many of the dishes can be converted to vegetarian dishes: carrots on the menu show which ones. Finally, the service was relaxed, casual, friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was very comfortable with a lot of gleaming wood. We had a wonderful visit there and are planning to go back again soon.
