Visited this restaurant with my elderly mother for lunch on Oct. 6th, 2017. Mom indicated that this place was great several years ago. We had to sit at a table directly outside the washroom. Major toilet traffic/restaurant staff had difficulty getting by. Ordered a so-called 'specialty crepe'. Forty minutes later, received a mediocre salad that had nothing to do with its billing or crepe association -- just a basic salad. We were charged $36.00. Very overrated and dissatisfying. Probably not w
Just great food, 4 visits so far, just need to book head.
It was my niece's 14 th birthday and we want to take her to a creperie. The food was very plentiful and excellent quality. I have the seafood crepe that was $22 but had large chunks of crab, shrimp and scallops which was baked with lots of Swiss cheese. It was a large whole wheat crepe. For dessert the same large crepe with rum infused bananas and chantilly cream
I will start of by saying that the food was great. The crepes were delicious and the presentation made me smile. But that was the only thing that made me smile at that restaurant. Pierre (the owner), Did not make us feel welcome at all. I would equate the whole thing to being served crepes by Gregory House. My guess, based on the mixed reviews, is that it might have something to do with age. I am in my early twenties and perhaps the owner felt that as such I did not deserve his courtesy and respect. Also, I did not appreciate the inflexible 'rules' they had set up. It's a minimum order of 7 dollars per person and the 15 percent tip is automatically added to your bill. It’s admittance to poor service, or else they wouldn’t feel the need to enforce it. Pierre obviously has a very different view of how a customer should be treated. Final word? It wasn’t worth it.
I felt as though I was in France. The atmosphere was very cute / small but perfect. It was a bit a wait but well worth it. The owners are husband and wife and they do everything from scratch. It was great. I read reviews on the French onion soup and no kidding.. it was the best I have ever tasted I wanted to more. Main Dish was a Ham/cheese/mushroom Crepe it shared between two people. The desert was absolutley amazing and put the cherry on top for sure. Fabulous from begining to end.
I visited La Parisienne with my wife this past week, we’ve frequented the creperie for five years now and we constantly have a great experience, the food is fabulous, from their main dish to their exquisite desert crepes, never did I see such food presentation when our plates arrive to our table. the restaurant specializes in crepes and they have numerous different styles of them, over the years we’ve had the chance to try many different items from the menu including their wonderful onion soup. I’ve been to France and ate at many different creperies and they all seemed to have their own style of making a crepe, I was surprised to hear from another post on this review forum mentioning that the crepes were not authentic, are they basing that from one creperie they went to and decided that it was the official style? So I’m also guessing if you went to Italy and went to Pizzerias they would all serve the same pizza? I believe that when it comes to cuisine you need to give it your own flair and make it unique and delicious and for that I give la Parisienne my highest rating, compliments to the charming husband and wife couple that own and run the creperie.
First of all – I really hope no one is reading these reviews and goes off of the last entry written about how the owner is rude and crabby. That is far from the truth. If anyone appreciates the finer things in life and is willing to wait a little for an amazing meal then this is the place to go. It is cozy and quaint and definitely gives you a sense of home while also giving you that feeling that you are in France at a European-styled restaurant. The little wait for lunch was worth it. The french onion soup was to die for – BEST I have ever had at any establishment in over 15 years. Lots of Swiss cheese and the broth was so thick. For the main course I had the Swiss cheese and ham crepe (#29) – it was wonderful! I have never had a crepe for lunch but the taste was unbelievable. I was so full at the end I could not have desert but it gives me an excuse to come back with my fiancé and surprise him with my new find. Some of the other things that were said about this place like “no substitutions” or the fact that 15% is added to the bill – big deal! The menu is set and I think he did a really good job at catering to people’s likes and dislikes. And 15% is a reasonable tip. It’s what everyone server should get at a minimum. Overall I would recommend this place to everyone and my entire party of 6 enjoyed everything as well. Food, service and atmosphere. Merci La Parisienne!
Food was Excellent. Owner is a Nut! Ok, this place is cute, and they have Fab Crepes! But what is with the Crabby Owner/Chef. I was embarrassed that he was crabbing at an Older couple..?? huh? Man couldn't hear well, and this guy was rude. He told us flat out.. no substitutions. Ok... we didn't ask for any?? Someone asked for a 'different type" of cheese. He bellowed SWISS ONLY! (He's crazy!) We had lunch crepes. Very Very Good. And dessert Crepes. Wow. Unbelievable. So if you can put up with this Rude Owner/Chef, then its a good place to go. Also. The owner/Chef.. also waits on the tables..? Hello?? I know!! Nuts! His wife is there too. She's nice. Anyhow. They AUTOMATICALLY ADD 15% TIP. That's a bit presumptious! Perhaps smeone doesn't like his service or Attitude. Why should they force a 15% Tip on the bill?? Again. Owner is NUTS! Food is Excellent.
We've been to this restaurant several times already. If you like french onion soup, you owe it to yourself to try the REAL deal ... as they make it in Paris's best restaurants. This soup is simply the BEST onion soup I've had so far ... and I always try it in every restaurant that offers it ... including restaurants in France. I cannot give this onion soup a higher compliment than that! The salads are quite salty, but this does not apply to the "salad antoine" here ... which is the one with walnuts and blue cheese ... also a delicious item on the menu for those who enjoy blue cheese. On the dessert side, the "crepe piaf" is also outstanding and is the ONLY dessert my wife has when we go there. Don't forget to have a glass of "cuvee st. pierre" red wine with the salad or salad crepes ... it goes terrific with them. You will not find better french onion soup in Canada!
By far the best meal we have ever had. Period. The service was outstanding. The owner personable and entertaining. The atmosphere was just incredible. The food... awwww... the food... there's just no words to describe how good it was. You have go to with the person you love the most.
My mother and I drive out of our way to go to this charming restaurant. Having lived in Paris, France myself for a couple of years, it is a pleasure to find excellent onion soup and authentic French crepes that are made to order. When my mother and I were searching for a place to eat in Bronte one night, I didn't want to go into this restaurant because I do not like typical crepes....the heavy, creamy sauce kind....but these are light, cooked on both sides (hence the extra wait that you do not have in fast food restaurants) and filled with the most awesome salad you have ever tasted! The service is warm and genuine, and the food is "have to go back" as opposed to "maybe some day I will be back". The bloody Caesar's are excellent. (on the hot spicy side) This restaurant is one of my top three in Toronto.
The food was fantastic. Authentic french fare. Never had a french onion soup that came close to this. The dessert crepes had a beautiful presentation and tasted even better than they looked with home made whipped cream. Service was typical french service, they love to talk to you, everything is made fresh, and they even tell you on the menu that it will take a little longer. Well worth it.
Was attracted by the quaint French atmosphere, however everything else was a disappointment. Service was slow and when our orders were taken, the waiter was impatient and unnecessarily brusque with my father, who is hard-of-hearing. Everything on the menu is made with Swiss cheese, which I don't care for, and when I asked if I could substitute mozzarella, I was told rather abruptly, absolutely not, Swiss cheese only. I therefore ordered the Caesar salad. It was prettily presented when it finally came, but was virtually inedible as it was heavily salted and dressed with very dry, poor quality parmesan cheese, and the croutons were of a very poor, obviously pre-prepared quality. My father ordered coffee, and was given a cup of hot water and a package of instant crystals, which I have never, ever experienced even in the most basic diner. When the bill came it was excessive at $32.00 and the tip had already been added. Will never go back there.

Hello there, it's almost been 10 years, you should give us another try. Lot's of great changes have happened, we now have 5 different cheeses available and yes we also still have swiss. All of our produce or locally sourced and organic, our coffee is of high quality coffee beans ground finely and served in a french press. Hope to see you soon! Mikael
Authentic French bistro. Food is made & served by owners. Decor is a little tacky, but that's part of character. Awesome food. French onion soup is the best we've ever had. Spilt a crepe between us. Love it!
A wonderful, quaint little restaurant with superb food. The French onion soup is excellent, and the dinner crepes are to die for. If you have a party of two you probably want to split an entree so you can leave room for the desert crepes. If you are in a hurry this is not the place for you as everything is made to order. The owners do all the cooking and serving, and go out of their way to make you comfortable. One of a kind in Oakville, you should really give it a try!
