Portions are great food is great and jerk pork is fire
Can't believe nobody has mentioned their oxtail. They have simply "THE BEST" oxtail in southern Ontario. I have tried oxtails at many other restaurants and theirs tops them all. I have not tried anything else in thise resaurant not because I didn't want to. It's because I crave their oxtail too much. I don't live in Mississauga and only drive by sometimes (from a few times a week to a few times every three month). I just don't have the oppertunity to try other food there becuase when I have a chance to go their, oxtail is all I think about. It's crazily addictive. It's not super cheap, $9 for a small & $11 for a large (large one has slightly more meat). However, it's so good I don't really care how much they charge. The service, oh well... the one younger lady is always very very nice and the elder ladies could certainly use more smiles like said in previous posts. But with their oxtail so delicious that I don't care how they do not smile. I want to make sure I smile at them so they would sell me that food. Seriously, it's that good. If you are not afraid of geting a heart attack, tell them to add some oxtail gravy to the rice & pea.... you would eat your tongue out.... its just that good...
We get food here at least twice a month and it is consistantly good. Not sure where the reviews saying the ladies are unfriendly are coming from. perhaps if YOU went in with a smile and a hearty HELLO you would be greeted in kind. They are always busy, and standing over a smoking hot oven all day. I'm sure YOU would not be looking too happy either. Pop into the bakery next door too.. awesome treats.
I have been going to this restaurant since it opened. However, my last two visits have been very disappointing. The last two lunches we bought we had to put in the garbage. For a family of four this was not cheap. The jerk pork and the chicken soup tasked old, the rice and peas was dry and pale. We got extra orders of coleslaw and it was really dry. We thought we would give the place a second chance and they failed miserably.
My favorite jamaican food source. The food is great, especially stew-peas(beef) only done on thursday. You must call and reserve by noon or you may be disappointed. The portions are generous and the price reasonable.Tell them, Robert (weekly visit) sent you. P.S. leave some for me.
Original Jerk has been around for a while and has enjoyed a near monopoly on Jamaican food in that area. Over the years, the food has gone downhill. Other than one lady who has been previously mentioned, the other ladies that run this operation are probably the most miserable looking in the western hemisphere. They are not only incapable of smiling but give customers the distinct impression that you are bothering them. If I were not so addicted to Jamaican food, I would never go back there.
I like the resturant nice and clean food was good I especially loved the soup. I was served by very friendly lady more on the heavy side she is always cheerful and happy cannot say much for the others they need to smile more. As it makes people wanting to return. I would recoomend the food it is great.
I work nearby, and will stop in here for lunch occasionally. I will usually order the chicken roti, which is very tasty and generously proportioned. I was delighted to find that the roti is made with boneless chicken. At some of the other west indian places you will have to specifically ask for boneless roti, or you will otherwise find a graveyard within! Good prices, friendly service/atmosphere, great food.
The food was o.k but the service was not good. The cashier never cracked a smile. The jerk chicken was alright, but ive had better.
