To begin with, the atmosphere at the Old Stable...
To begin with, the atmosphere at the Old Stable was fantastic! It had an authentic old world European feel, and it was apparent that there was a lot of regulars there. We lucked out and had a nice warm summer evening to sit on the patio, and received fantastic service. On top of that, the food was great. It was the first time I've ever had goulash, and it was delicious! It seemed very authentic, and like a meal you'd expect eat at the home of someone who really enjoyed cooking for their guests. However, I would never return to this establishment. When our bill arrived they added an extra $12.50 to the total compared to the prices printed on the menu (25% extra for us). Food that should have been $7 was charged at $9, beers that were in the menu as $5.50 were charged at $6.25 and so on. At first when we questioned them we were told that they had just included the taxes in the item totals, but the math doesn't work that way. If you have a menu printed with prices, you have to charge the price in the menu. The way it came across was that we weren't regulars and they thought they could charge whatever they wanted. We spoke to the owner, who blamed it on "old menus," while looking like a child with his hand caught in the cookie jar. This completely ruined the experience, and we will never go back.
