Absolutely amazing !! We picked our meal up and I have to say it was one of the best lobster and steak dinners I can ever remember having!! They did a wonderful job packing everything including sauces and butter. A dinner to remember !!
The very best in dining and food in Hamilton. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
Very Impressed! Outstanding food, service and atmosphere!!! The filet mignon melted in our mouths. Prompt service. We absolutely enjoyed EVERYTHING from the entree of bacon wrapped scallops to the bowl full of a variety of candies served at the end.
Last Monday four of us made reservations for a much deserved night out. All of us arrived at six o"clock and had a pre dinner martini, made to a tee! We could not get enough of their famous garlic bread accompanied with Greek feta cheese, crisp dill pickles and black kalamata olives. This was a great start to a great evening,Our host ordered Barolo wine as the evening progressed , so did the wine! Peter our server was spot on always refilling our bread and water and more importantly, our wine glasses! I myself ordered the feature Provimi veal chop bpne in med-rare with a side of calabrese salad , Boconcini cheese , fresh tomatoes andbasi, light drizzle of balsamic glaze,The chop was succulent with a light garlic herb olive oil drizzle! A perfect ten, My friends all chose 22 ounce Rib Steaks with sides or seared rapini. They were in heaven . Did i mention that this restaurant only cooks over live CHAR-COAL! , which ish testamout in itself that far surpasses any steakhouse cooking over gas barbecues. It is a long lost art and you can taste the difference in Franco;s passion for the business. In between courses all of us were served a side course of spagetinni al olio. It was perfectly seasoned with hints of garlic and chile peppers. Once we were finished our host Franco came by to check in on our table which was a nice touch. For dessert i myself was too full but two of my distinguished friends opted to split their famous hot apple begneits rolled in sugar and cinamon seved with ice cream. They loved it ! By the way the same two are accompled head chef"s in various restaurants! All four of us cannot say enough of this establihed steak and seafood restaurant. Al i will say is KUDOS to Franco and Peter and Gino for the excellent evening!!!
Came as a class function with 12 individuals. Overall the atmosphere was very nice. The food was all excellent overall. I do intend to enjoy a little more flavour though. But nobody was disappointed. The only downfall was the slow service but the staff were very nice. Most had steak I had the seafood but the steak was cooked to perfection.
I will keep this short and sweet.. from the time of arrival to leaving this could not have been a more enjoyable evening. The service was very terrific, attentive and over the top charming, yes charming. The meals were absolutely tremendous, served timely and prepared to perfection, as were the appetizers! That's it, yes I will go back! Want a perfect steak, stop in and enjoy.
I can't recall the last time I had a meal that was so excellently prepared. Everything was outstanding. The atmosphere was cozy (possibly a little crowded), our waiter was prompt, helpful and obviously eager to please. Complimentary olives (watch out for the pits), feta and pickles start your off, fresh garlic bread follows quickly after you order and we couldn't be more pleased with our appetizers and entrees; they exceeded our expectations. We'll be back.
There is no substitution for great service and Shakespeare's has that from the coat checkroom to the friendly knowledgeable waitstaff. Unfortunately the food does not stand up. Started with apps. Scallops were undercooked and mealy. $13.50 Jumbo Shrimp average certainly not worth $23.50 for 3.Cocktail sauce was generic and tasteless. Vegetables were undercooked and cold. Home fries were so salty and miss proportioned. The 22 ounce rib eye was outstanding. The New York Center Cut was above average but I expected more for $50. Creme Brulee was amazing as was the cold Chocolate Mousse. For $200 I was a bit disappointed.
Great food, excellent service, and wonderful atmosphere. Have been going there for 40 years. Some things have changed, but overall it is still one of my favorite Hamilton restaurants. Delicious garlic bread, succulent steaks, great variety of fresh fish and of course the most delicious apple beignet dessert ......a must !!!!! The waitstaff is exceptional and the candy vase is still put in the middle of the table at the end of dinner............ The tradition continues.....................
I had heard great things about this place... and found it didn't quite live up to the hype. The food was very good, but for the price we were expecting something a bit more impressive. The service was excellent, and the pre-dinner snacks were a nice touch (fresh bread, pickles...).
great food, great service it was my birthday at the day we visited for the first time.. we really enjoyed this restaurant. we will be back for sure. salad was great.
How can anyone say anything bad about this restaurant? It is without a doubt the best place to eat in all of Hamilton! On our most recent visit we had the spinach salad which made a fantastic appetizer.Prepared with just the right amount of balsamic vinegar. Our entrees consisted of the best sea bass fish filet we have ever had (melts in your mouth) and filet mignon which was perfectly tender. On the side are mushrooms and rice. All for a great price considering the top quality food you are getting! The atmosphere is romantic and makes you feel as if you are in your own little world. The wait staff is VERY professional and friendly and will make you feel right at home.
Went here for a business function. The service was outstanding. The steaks where close to the best I have ever eaten. Grilled exactly like each person asked for. They melted in your mouth. Will definitely go back.
i took my daughter to shakespeares for her 16th birthday. shes vegetarian and she had a delicious pasta dish with veggies and steamed veggies. i had the best steak ever and it could melt in your mouth. i always have h.p. sauce but none was needed. our baked potato was so flavourful with sour cream and feta cheese for topping. the dessert was an apple dish with a scoop of ice cream and to my surprise they came out singing to kaitlyn. every bite of the food we had was five star and the service and staff were excellent. we cant wiat to go back and this my friends would be my first pick! keep up the awsome work shakespeare!
Outrageous, unfathomably insane prices for the following: -bland, drab, unappetizing pickerel: cost over $30 -asparagus that was mushy on the bud ends, tougher than leather at the stalk ends -over-boiled, mushy, old broccoli that tasted like it was from a swamp; no nutrients left when it's that overcooked -mostly limp, old pieces of lettuce in the garden salad; pieces were too large to eat comfortably -was told the main vegetable on the plate was eggplant....there was no eggplant, it was in fact zuccini -clearly requested "no onions" in both the salad & main entree....the salad came loaded with onions, and it was a 5 minute effort to pick all of them out. -very minimal choices for vegetarians -food overall did not taste or appear fresh -portions small, quality poor Our only compliment to give here is to the elegant Tudor style decor. If it had not been for the fact that I had just been through some serious trauma in my life, I would have not been so silent and would have diplomatically complained about all these issues, which were extremely incongruous and unexpected, considering the beyond-excessive prices for such shoddily-prepared foods. Honestly, I've cooked many far better meals myself, and there are much better quality eateries in the Hammer (and elsewhere) for a fraction of the cost. AVOID!
Intimate, well designed surroundings with polite well informed servers acquainted with special food needs. The meal was served with panache but carefully and with full attention to our requests. The meals themselves were cooked to perfection as well as being truly treats for our tastes. The visit had been prearranged from another city and the restaurant had every detail covered as arranged. It may appear expensive at first glance but for quality of service and variety of food it is a wonderful culinary experience
Romantic if you want it to be, not overly big which in turn gives you great service. The waiter we had was amazing, remembered us from the last time we were there, even remembered what I really liked and took it upon himself to remind me to order it, which I did and again very good. Can't complain about a thing, top notch service, food and atmosphere. Will be returning with new friends this weekend.
Now that was a truly remarkable dining experience. First class all the way. The best garlic bread ever. Will return again.
Our waiter seemd very non interested in the fact that we were there. Crab Cakes were ordered on waiters recommendation. They were filled with bits of shell and cartilage. When we complained to the waiter about it he said "that just happens sometimes, but no, they shouldn't be in there" and was very unappologetic about it. Side dishes were nothing to write home about - the veggies were cold and hard. I have been here before and the past and quite enjoyed it. I think the restaurant has gone downhill, and we will not recommend it, or return
The food here is for sure top notch but the only complaint is the prices! They are out of this world and a lil far fetched. 7 and change for a small bowl of clam chowder? Gimme a break! Also a bottle of beer is 5 and change. If you have extra money for the day by all means you will enjoy this restaurant but otherwise save your money for other places. btw the service is friendly but not overly so
