I went there for a second time by myself for a late lunch and the restaurant was pretty empty. The server was very rude and told me to go to the other door and wait there. She could have told me to sit anywhere or be more welcoming. I left because I was too embarrassed
Great food with very nice relaxing atmosphere
Bland flavourless food. Regret coming here, Never again. I didn't think you could make Greek food taste so plain. Came here for my birthday and the meal ruined my day. When I got home I went online and saw that last week inspectors closed this place for one critical infraction and two noncritical infractions which included unsanitary conditions. Wish it was still closed when I showed up today so I could have avoided this horrible meal.
On Thursday night my husband and I decided to drive to Guelph for Greek Food. I heard from my friends that Cafe Greek garden was an excellent choice for greek food. When we got there, we were greeted by the hostess and seated by windows as I requested this seat. A few minutes later, our waitress came to give us the menus her name was Tina. She was very professional and friendly. She had a great knowledge about the food and answered all our questions about the different choices on the menu. The restaurant was quite full and all the people looked like they were enjoying their meals. I loved the atmosphere and felt like I was in Greece. We ordered a few of the appetizers, the flaming cheese and the hummus with pita to start and found the experience of seeing the cheese light up a good show. Our main course was the Lamb chops and the chicken souvlaki dinner. The portions were huge and the taste was excellent not to mention the price was great. My husband was almost licking the plate. Tina came back several times asking us if we needed anything more and I starting asking questions about the restaurant and places to see in Guelph. She was so friendly and gave us excellent information. The whole experience was wonderful and I would highly recommend Cafe Greek garden to everyone.
Last night my Husband and I went to Cafe Greek Garden for dinner and it was wonderful. Our brillilant experience started from the phone call I made to inquire if they would be able to help me select menu friendly items that I can eat ,( I have a Gluten and Dairy allergy). through to being seated and the end of the meal. A wonderful evening. When we arrived we were greeted with smiles and warmth from all of the staff we encountered. We were seated quickly and no staff hovered or rushed us. Our server, Bernadette, knew about my allergy and had many suggestions for me and they were all delicious options, which made me excited --- most restaurnats today use so much bread and cheese that usually all I can have is a salad or salmon meal. My husband and I had the dinner for two and it was a little bit of a wait for our meal but it was worth the wait. The meat was tender, the vegetables rich with flavour and the serving size more then enough for the two of us, last night was one of the best culinary expeiences we have ever had in recent years. We are already planning our next visit to the Cafe Greek Garden. Other things that made the evening a great experience was the atmosphere (decor/music) and the fact that you could tell the food was fresh and made to order and not sitting on a grill waiting. We would like to thank Bernadette, our server, for making us welcome and taking time to chat with us. We would like thank the chefs for the great food and we look forward to the next meal at Cafe Greek Garden.
I love the Greek garden and I am a regular customer and I love it. The only complaint I have, every time I come to do take out there is a specific man that is one of the bald looking cooks, he is rude and mean to all of his co workers screaming and swearing at them. Doesn't he realize that all the customers are there watching him and apauled with his behavior. I'd like to tell the manager or owner to get rid of him. I try to avoid takeout and come in to enjoy the food and service on the inside.
Two years ago we said we'd never go back. We should have stuck with that. We went for lunch today and the service was unbelievably bad. The waiter could not have cared less. The food was mediocre, the decor is tired, and the waiter slapped it down in front of us and never came back. If the coffee had been drinkable, it would have been offensive to never be given a second cup. This time it was a blessing.
We've always been told that this is nice place so we decided to visit. The food was really good, but the service was lousy. The server ignored us when we got there. We ordered a dish to take out after we had dined in there. He almost forgot to bring it to us before we left - we had to remind him. Imagine our surprise and dismay when we opened our takeout at home - it was someone else's left overs with fish when we ordered a chicken souvlaki!
Love Greek food Love Greek Garden We all ordered different dishes and shared. Everyone loved there meal, even though one of us didn't like seafood she did love her chicken. Overall seats could be cleaner. If the cafe was on the water front you could almost feel you are in Greece. Our waitress was excellent very attentive and friendly even though other staff was interupting her and very rude to us.
Went there recently with a group of friends for dinner. There were 6 of us and the restaurant was pretty busy so we assumed we would have to wait a little bit, but it was like they had totally forgotten about us. Took forever for them to take our order or bring drinks. When our meals finally came they were cold. I mentioned to the waitress that my lamb was overcooked, she said that is was the way that lamb is supposed to be (I beg to differ). From there she basically stopped coming to the table other then to bring us our bills. I definitely would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
really good Greek food and ambiance. i'd certainly go back any time. can't understand why anyone wouldn't like this place. Adding a Vegan dish or two (no eggs, milk, cheese or meat) would be my only request for change.
Waitress was rude from the moment she came to our table. After waiting for over 1/2 hour after ordering a drink for any service at all..... we proceeded to ask for another waitress to serve us. A very nice young lady came and took our order and apologized. When the order came, the original rude waitress was the one who brought our food to the table. When serving our meal she reached over people and handed us plates to pass down the table to our friends. She reached in front of one of the girls to grab something and had her breasts in my friends face and never once said sorry or excuse me. She never came to ask how the meal was and forgot to bring a drink twice. We waited for another 20 minutes or so for our bills. It's really hard to want to tip for bad service, but 3 of the girls decided to leave her a tip anyways. Upon leaving the restaurant, the waitress came outside and said "you left something" and threw a toonie on SOMEONES CAR! Which wasn't any of ours. My girlfriend went back into the restaurant to talk to the waitress/manager who proceeded to say we were the rudest people she had ever served. WOW, I CANNOT TELL YOU HOW RUDE SHE REALLY WAS! Will never go back. and will be telling all our friends!
We had a waitress who ignored us. The seafood platter came and it was a piece of dried, stinky, overcooked fish that was inedible. The shrimp were cooked from frozen and were like rubber bands, as was the calamari. The spanikopita was cold and soggy, and the salad had nothing but vegetable oil on it. We were shocked at the poor quality of the food and will never return.
We go here all the time now, place is good. Really busy Fri, Sat, Sun for Dinner. you might have to wait but. we enjoy it. The best part about it is you enjoy a bottle of Mythos Beer, an authentic Greek Beer. Sometimes they dont have it which I don't understand cause they are the only place in town that sells it. Foods good and reasonable priced. The dinner for 2 is pretty good as well
We have been here a few times and everytime it has been great. The last time we had their appetizer for two, which has humus and tazikki dip, and spanikopita and we both got chicken souvlaki pitas with greek salads.
I love the atmosphere, very relaxing and comfortable. The service was friendly, wonderful and cheerful ;) When the food arrived, it was 'WOW' very large proportions. Tasted good and loved the pita bread with the sauces. Was truely a unexpectidly charming experience.
The ribs are the best in town by far, but mine were served cold and late. The greek salad is awesome tho but two olives in the whole thing and a salad for two no less, had to ask for more olives. no problem. the hummus and tara are great but they give you ever so little now and it just isnt the same as it use to be. Too bad this happens to places.
This used to be our favourite place. Someone got the bright idea to change the menu. Veal Parm is NOT Greek. The hummus is horrible now and the food mediocre. We won't be back.
This is my absolute favorite place to eat in Guelph. I don't get to eat here very often since we move away from Guelph but we try to go most times we visit the city.
We have been to Cafe many times. Including Rehearsal Dinners and Confirmations. We were really impressed with this placed when we moved here in 2003 however the place has gone down hill. This last time was the last straw. We were shoved in the corner booth near the bathroom, when the dining room was almost empty. Our appetizers were stale and so-so. When our entrees showed up after 45 minutes our childrens meals were wrong. Our server just hmmphed at us walked away with their plates. We had to share our meals with the kids because the server could not tell us how long it would take to replace their meals and it was later in the evening we did not want to find somewhere else to go. The place was EMPTY. When the 4 of us were done and our bill came, the kids meals were still on the bill and they never came!! NEVER AGAIN.
