We heard some positive reviews of Chutney's and thought we'd give it a try since we were doing some business in the area. Sadly, this was a mistake. We ordered at 4PM when everything is an amazing 35% off for pick-up; however, sadly after tasting the food, the deal still wasn't worth it! Lamb korma was "meh" with chewy pink pieces of meat. Saag paneer had toothy pieces of paneer and sour tasting greens that reminded us of canned saag we buy at the Indian grocers. Garlic naan was not that garlicky--it took eating half the bread before tasting the garlic. We also got some crunchy pieces of ash stuck on the underside of the naan, presumably from the walls of the tandoor. Plain white rice accompaniment was dry. As our other reviews show, we are always on the look out for excellent desi khana (Indian cooking); Chutney's doesn't fit the bill.
The food was terrible. Meat was dry. Definitely not 'cooked' in the sauces (no infusion of flavour). Wanted Biryani and was sold pulao with raisins and nuts. The nuts were missing. The sauces tasted like they came out of a bucket of standard stuff. Sorry - - but can't recommend the restaurant to anyone.
I have been visiting Chutney's for over a year. All food prepared fresh and taste very authentic. Definitely the best Indian food in the area! Highly reccomend
Chutneys make great food. They even made me something that wasn't on the menu (Chicken Vindaloo). I also tasted the Gobi Aloo and that was excellent. The mixed Naan wasn't worth it.. go with regular. When we went, the waiting times were quite long.. maybe because it was near closing time, I don't know. They seemed to only have one person working all the tables at that time, but it still took longer than we expected. The only complaint I have is the portion size for the price. 15$ for something small that I can easily make at home, then charge extra for the Naan? Next time I buy food here it will be between 4-5 PM when they have a big discount on their takeout (25-40% I believe).
It was our first visit to this restaurant. We had really excellent experience. Very good service and wonderful staff. It is very different from other Indian restaurant. We had wonderful and testy hots after food.We will keep going to this place .
food was great and service was excellent. All the staff is very professional. we had a booking on Friday evening. Although the place was completely full but service was excellent. At the end of our meal they provided special shots and those were really good.
we read in metro news paper about this restaurant. we were greeted at the door by a young and good looking hostage. Very nice small and cozy restaurant. food is awesome and service was excellent.
Was in Chutneys recently with a party of 20 people and was impressed well beyond anticipation. Simply from the taste of the fare, one can tell that fresh ingredients are utilized. Also, service was highly impressionable and very well executed. This place is a definite recommendation to any Indian food enthusiast.
Our friends recommended this place. It was our first visit. Food was really good and service was excellent. we will recommend to our friends.
I brought my family in this restaurant 1 week ago and really enjoyed myself. It was recommended to us by my good friend who is a regular there. Their specialty dishes are very tasty. Don't forget to try their complimentary liqueur shots at the end. This is a small place, can house about 35-40 people at a time. But still, the ambience and service here is splendid. If you haven't tried eating here before, I highly recommend that you do.
It was our first visit to chutneys. We ordered mild food and it was really up to our test and we enjoyed. Al the staff is very polite and good looking. Young and smiling faces. We will reconmond all our friends.
We go to chutneys every week. Chutneys food is the best. We tried most of Indian restaurant but no body can beat chutneys. All the staff are very freindely and courtious. Young and good looking waiters alwayscome to door to welcome and after dinner she always brings chutneys best liquer.
Was in there with my girlfriend last weekend. Had a fantastic time, but service could be faster, which is understandable because place was packed. We'll be back
This is without a doubt THE best Indian restaurant in Toronto. Although I am white, I consider myself an Indian food aficionado since I have eaten this type of cuisine all over the world. During busy hours, Chutneys' service can get a little slow, but believe me the food is definitely worth the wait. I have been there 3 times already and am already planning a fourth visit soon.
We are a party of 10-15 co-workers who get together every 15-20 days for lunch in order to discuss matters pertaining to work, life etc. Initially our party had very little luck finding the right place for such a gathering, untill now. Chutneys has been superb in service and food quality ever since we started going there. Usually we provide the staff with our orders well in advance, since we only have an hour's worth of lunch. All in all, in addition to excellent service, good food, the management at Chutneys is also very considerate.
Food was alright, but surely not better than average. Service was unacceptably slow and couldn't be called courteous. Would probably not visit again.
There should be an article on this. Background: We've been there 2-3 times before and had ordered the same food as this time. We were really delighted by food and service. (thought of giving 10/10 at that time). This time: We ordered the dishes. No body initially asked whether we would like some drinks or would like to order. After 15-20 minutes of wait, we asked a waiter and ordered the dishes. * The dishes were requested to be spicy. According to Indian recipes, spicy food means a little more spices added while initial cooking so that they don't stick in your throat and upset your stomach. Here in our order, we were served the dishes with chilly powder freely thrown and mixed (literally. I really mean it and someone should test it. anyone can be confident that the chilly powder is mixed without cooking tactics). Despite of worst ever quality of food, we tried to bear with it and slowly tried to eat (as we were hungry, expecting delicious dishes). The waiter, taking order and serving, had ZERO as a server/waiter. On top of this, a STONE was found out of biryani which was height of worst cooking. We reported it but no one (neither cook nor manager) was accepting that a stone can be found in the dish. Instead of apologizing for stone and worst food, manager ridiculously defended that they are 5 star restaurant and a stone can't be in their food. Overall, neither they replaced any of dishes nor they offered any rebate on "stoned" dish. Anyway, if you're going there wish you Good Luck. Otherwise, I would urge you not to go there so that the chefs and management would learn lesson not to offend customers. * This has been real but bitter experience. Thank you for reading.
We were welcomed at the door with nice smile. It was our first visit.Food was excellent,Mixed Naan were really good.Murgh Khas Awadh was very special dish we never ate this dish in any Indian restaurant. After food server gave us special prepared short whic were really good. We had good time. Good looking hostess came to drop us At the door and she was waiting till time of our departure.
This was our second visit to Chutneys and it was as amazing this time as the first. The staff are friendly and the food is delicious.
We waited an Hour!!!! for our food and no one came by. We had the "back" table which was private enough, but we saw people come and eat and we were still waiting. The food was good but I was disappointed that we were asked if we wanted rice or naan with our meal but weren't told it was an extra charge. It was fine that it was just would have been nice to be told.
