Been to the Keg in different cities and was always pleased. This on burnt a medium NY sirloin. Dry and burnt and you could see where they used a grill weight to speed up the cook time and get rid of all the juices. Complained about and was offered a dessert. Yeah for me.
This place charges way to much. The food isn't worth the price. The atmosphere is very dark and dingy. It certainly isn't a family (children) place. If we are given agift certificate then my husband and I may go, but that would mean leaving the other half of the family at home. As i said before, the FOOD ISN'T WORTH THE PRICE.
We hadn't been to the Keg for a long time so we decided to give it a try once again. When we walked in, it was virtually empty as it was later on in the night. The hostess greeted us, then told us that we could sit in the corner. She didn't even walk us to our table or give us menus. Then, when we sat down, the bartender came and gave us menus, a little strange if you ask me. We ordered our meals and waited patiently. The complimentary bread didn't come out to us until about 15 minutes of us waiting, a little long to be waiting for bread. It was good though, warm and crunchy. Then our meals came out like 10 minutes after our bread came out. The steak wasn't medium rare, it looked more rare than ever, and it cost $34! It definitely wasn't worth the price, considering all you got on the side was a small order of vegetables. The chicken teriyaki wasn't all that great either, it tasted burnt, which means it was on the grill too long. The rice pilaf was horrible, I had to pour sauce over it to get it to taste somewhat decent. The asparagus were hard and lacked taste. For two people, we ended up wasting $59, not worth it at all. I don't know what all of the hype is of this place, I should have gone to Swiss Chalet and gotten a chicken for half of the price and it would have tasted a lot better.
awesome like always.....i wish some other brantford restaurants were as good as this place....they seated us quickly, took our orders within 5-10 min....we ordered filet mignon and was cooked and tasted perfect.....
My husband has always wanted to go to the Keg. Heard amazing things about it. Found it to be VERY noisy, not at all the atmosphere we were looking for. His steak was not as good as he was expecting it to be from a Steakhouse. We would try it again.
My sister & brother-in-law took me there tonight for birthday dinner.Excellant service.Server had sense of humour, checked often to see if we needed drinks etc. Each of our meals was fantastic.Steak was cooked to order>everyones was correct. The baked potato was sooooo good.Warm bread. Also, roasted peppers were great.Loads of flavour. At the end of the meal I was surprised with a huge piece of Birthday cake with candle that was absolutely to die for.Compliments of the Keg!Will definitely return and refer friends there.
They used to have the BEST chicken fingers on the bar menu, but they're gone now. Hate the prime rib burger! We used to like getting takeout, but then they stopped taking orders over the phone. I guess they want you to have a drink or two while you wait at the bar. Whatever, there are other places in town.
Went here for valentines , our first time at the keg. The wait was long for dinning room so we sat at a table in the lounge to wait and ended up eating there. Meal was good , steak was really good but very skimpy on the vegies for sure.Probably 1/2 cup of cauliflower broccoli carrot mix and 1/4 c of mushrooms. Ceasar salad was good enough. If we hadn't of ordered french onion soup first, we would of walked away still hungry. Price is Normal as can be expected from a steak house. Cocktails are pricey.
I LOVE the Keg! My husband and I go every year for our anniversary and our birthdays as well as other special occasions. In fact, we are going for Valentines Day! SERVICE: Amazing! Our drinks were always replenished as well as the warm buttery bread! Our orders were taken in a timely fashion, Wine was suggested to us and our waitress was amazing! FOOD: The best place for steak! Everything is fresh and the vegetables were grilled to perfection. Cesar Salad is to die for! ATMOSPHERE: We always ask for the comfy, fireside table in the corner of the bar. Very quiet and romantic... PRICE: A little costly but the entire experience and food were well worth every bite!
I took my family to the Keg for supper and we were seated promptly. The waiter however was not very classy. He said, "Hey guys, what would you like to order?". When I pay $30 a person for a meal, I don't want to be addressed as "Hey guys". The food was good although my father's steak was overcooked a bit. You had to wait a while for the food. Atmosphere was typical steakhouse and the decor was classy. I would try it again but hope for a better server.
EX-CE-LLENT. Decoration, atmosphere, furniture.. details every thing with good taste. I do not like the places where you eat "in the dark" and Keg as a perfect lightning level. Meat was cooked as ordered although it was not the best-ever but close. Service was the best, not that overwhelming or obstrusive one but just making sure all was okay and in place. I loved the fireplaces -we had diner late Oct so the place was cozy and toasty. Food didn't come fast but it did worth the wait. This restaurant is in the details, new napkins and silverware that was not worn-out or "not so clean". Glasses were not scuffed from common abuse that occurs in other restaurants. You should not miss this one.
We always enjoy visiting this Keg location. I find the service to be very good and fairly consistent. The hostess always makes us feel welcome, and they are very accomodating. Food is good & solid. What you would expect from a steakhouse in the price range.
Drink was fine, too bad i couldnt say the same for the meat . It seems that things have changed over time. In the beginning, the prime rib was quite good. It now seems to be about half as thick and a bit tougher. When i spoke to the floor manager, he did his best to rectifiy the problem.this has happend twice. Perhaps prime rib is not to be considered when ordering.
Like any Keg these days, everything is relatively high class. The atmosphere is very calm and quaint. The staff are exceedingly well trained. The food presentation is right up there. ... I miss the OLD Keg! They were fun. Anyway, the salmon, the previous two times I've gotten it in the past, was dry. I guess the word got out. This time it was almost raw. Good - but raw. The wine was quite nice.
Always delicious and it seems to be getting better all the time! YUM!
Great Atmosphere! Awesome staff!!! Worth every penny!
I am from ottawa and have visited the keg here and other places. The Keg in Brantford out did them all in all aspects. It was by far the best steak and service I have had in a long time.
The best place in Brantford to go for a great steak and outstanding service
My coworker and I had the best server! Lindsay was pleasant, courteous, prompt and extremely attentive. Filet Mignon and pina colada was great! Chicken fajitas and Mango time was great! ...and nothing was better than the manager checking the freezer for a special request of sweet potato fries! We had so much fun and enjoyed the company of the staff and management that the feelings were so mutual and our cocktails ended up being on the house! A must try if ever in Brantford!
Excellent steak. Wonderful service. the manager always comes over to check on your satisfaction with the meal. Atmosphere is wonderful
