Meet the owner

“We’re trying to do something in the city that is a little bit different, trying to push the boundaries a little bit,” says Brandon Grossutti, owner of PiDGiN, “to bring to Vancouver a fantastic restaurant with a casual approach to dining but with beautiful techniques that would otherwise be reserved for more ‘fine-dining’establishments.”

Brandon recognizes the increasing demand for high-quality, expertly crafted meals, especially among the younger section of the population that may be uncomfortable with or intimidated by Vancouver’s higher-end restaurants.

“The way we do the food itself is from a different perspective than the average diner is used to,”says Brandon, “we’ve been able to unite different techniques from different cultures together in a way that’s elegant and harmonious.”

Blending Japanese and classic French flavours and using high-end cooking techniques, methods and presentation, PiDGiN brings a unique and flavourful dining experience to the Lower Mainland.

Best restaurants for a solo meal in Vancouver

This Gastown eatery is a very classy, very fun spot for single diners. Strike up a conversation with PiDGiN’s extremely talented, extremely chatty bartenders while enjoying a meal of French-inspired Asian cuisine such as the pork belly rice bowl with quail eggs and poached pear. This hip joint takes on a party atmosphere in the evenings, so you many even cross paths with a future dinner date, if you stick around long enough …

Vancouver bars for a classic Pimm’s Cup cocktail

What’s the secret to the perfect Pimm’s Cup? It can’t hurt to have an English bartender mixing it up, as is the case at Gastown’s Pidgin. Head Bartender Justin Barnes includes cucumber, strawberries, mint and crushed ice in his concoction to make for a truly luxurious experience.

At PiDGiN, we see no need for distinctions between casual and fine dining. A restaurant can be both beautiful and comfortable; cuisine can be at once delicate and approachable. As dining perspectives have changed, so too has the line between east and west. Our experiences travelling and working in various continents is reflected in our food, bar, and even on our walls.
